It's Will again. I currently have a lot of time on my hands so I decided to work on the site a little bit. Ben's been asking me for this for a little while now and I finally got around to completing it. That is, you can now comment on all the images on this lovely website. We'll see if I add comments to the stories themselves... More to come.June 17, 2008
STAN WINSTON the genius visual effects wizard behind all your favorite movies, aliens, terminator, the thing, iron man, jurrasic park, edward scissorhands, batman returns, and many many more died yesterday at age 62. he was one of the biggest guns in hollywood and definatly changed the way my mind sees things creatively before i even knew who he was.our generation definatly has him to thank for our twisted taste in effects magic and makeup. before the advent of digital CGI and the cheap and quick way to make things look real Stan WInston made them real, out of real materials and he made them really well. if you don't believe me watch "the thing" and tell me that slimy piece of shit that eats and absorbs about five huskies doesnt still to this day make your stomach turn and set the bar for "real" in a digital computerized generation of cinema. Stan Winston is gone, but he didnt waste any time, there are few people you can look at and know they really made their mark on the world, and the way we see it. i'm going to go watch predator. -benJune 16, 2008
